GRASAG Korle Bu Inaugurates Postgraduate Research Commons

The Graduate Students Association of Ghana (GRASAG) - Korle Bu chapter on Thursday, 27th April, 2017 inaugurated the most sought-after Postgraduate Research Commons at a brief ceremony.

The ceremony which saw the donation of ten (10) computers and fifteen (15) chairs, was honoured by the Provost of the College of Health Sciences, Rev. Prof. Patrick F. Ayeh-Kumi.

The President of GRASAG - Korle Bu, Mr. Jacob Apibilla Ayembilla, in his speech expressed his excitement about the setting up of the Postgraduate Research Commons. He acknowledged the struggle of postgraduate students in accessing a comfortable environment to carry out their research studies. He also commented on the struggle he used to go through whilst trying to organize seminars and conferences. He strongly believes that this research commons will help solve much of that problem. He also entreated that maintenance culture should be observed to ensure that subsequent generations benefit from the edifice. He was so much grateful to the college for giving them the room and also ten (10) computers and GRASAG-Legon for also donating fifteen (15) chairs to start with.

The president of GRASAG Legon chapter, Mr. Asafo-Adjei Ayeh who presented 15 chairs on behalf of the association congratulated the collective efforts put in by all the stakeholders, namely: the college, the library, the local GRASAG (Korle Bu) and GRASAG legon- to set up such an outfit to help graduate students in their research work.

Mr. Asafo-Adjei, again admonish the students and the managers of the facility to put in measures to help maintain the commons so that it will be beneficial to generations to come.

The Provost of the College of Health Sciences, Rev. Prof. Patrick F. Ayeh-Kumi, on receiving the chairs, responded by appreciating the effect of GRASAG-Legon and the Korle Bu Chapter for their efforts in contributing to the success of the College.

He also commended the efforts of the College Librarian and his team of workers for making this a reality. He also outlined the future plans of the College for the Postgraduate Research Commons stating vital contributions to be made in the nearest future.

He vowed that ‘’I will make sure I turn this research commons into a world class edifice before I vacate office as the provost of this college.

In attendance were: The Provost of the College of Health Sciences, Rev. Prof. Patrick F. Ayeh-Kumi, the College Librarian, Mr. Solomon Sulemani, The President of GRASAG Legon, Mr. Nana Kwame Asafo-Adjei Ayeh, The GRASAG Korle Bu President, Mr. Jacob Apibilla Ayembilla and his Vice, Mr. Theophilus Owusu Manu, Staffs of the College Library and Post graduate students of the College.
