Devote More Time For Studies And Less Time For Social Media- Rector Admonishes Students

Majority of students now spend much of their time on social media platforms than on studies. It is common to see students chatting with their friends on WhatsApp, viber etc. in the middle of a lecture. Students who engage in this practice are unable to concentrate and do not give maximum attention to whatever their lecturers are teaching in class.

In a speech read on behalf of the Rector of the Bolgatanga Polytechnic by Dr. Samuel Alna, the Vice Rector of the School, admonishes students to devote more of their time for studies and less time for Social Media.

He expressed his concern about the amount of time students spend on social media platforms and urged them to focus on their studies more than any other thing.

“I urge you to devote more of your time for studies and less time for Social Media,” the Rector admonished the students.

He also cautioned the newly admitted students to shun anti -social behaviour and examination malpractices since the school would not hesitate to crack the whip on students caught in such negative acts.

In all, 694 students were admitted into the Polytechnic to study various programmes for the 2015/2016 academic year. Out of this, 504 are studying tertiary programmes whilst 190 for non –tertiary programmes.
