Desist From Issuing Defamatory Statements Against The Court- GRASAG-Legon CJ Warns

The second court hearing of the 2016/ 2017 GRASAG election petition filed by three independent petitioners has been adjourned to 6th May 2017 by the Chief Justice His Lordship Justice Sylvester Nyamekye.

According to the Chief Justice, the adjournment was due to an extension of time requested by the leadership of the Senate in order to properly constitute the Judicial Committee at an emergency meeting scheduled to take place on Thursday, 4th May, 2017.

Two out of the three petitioners were present with their Counsels. However conspicuously missing from the court was the respondent, the Electoral Commission and Counsel(s).

The Chief Justice also issued a stern warning to the Electoral Commission or any of its agents or workmen's to desist from issuing defamatory statements against the court.

Beside, His Lordship Sylvester Nyamekye assured the petitioners of fair hearing as stipulated in the GRASAG Legon Constitution.

The election petition case has been adjourned to 6th May 2017.
